About half way we stayed at the White River Crossing Campgound. The owner was a total mess! He took us on a short trip on his '43 Dodge Army truck. He told me to get in the driver's seat for pictures. He showed us may native plants, most of which he said would make a good tea! He had a small hole dug in the bog and he had most stick their hand in the hole and field the perma frost ice about a foot under the bog. The hundred miles into the campground and the 140 after into Tok was the worst road conditions we have faced. Part was under repair and was wet and muddy gravel. The rest had very bad dips in pavement. We lost 4 of the 6 bolts that holds the tow bar receiver on the car and thus almost lost the car! We spent most of the afternoon of July 3 with the car in the shop getting the hitch fixed.
Before we got to Tok we once again crossed into the USA. This is a shot of the border.
Note that as Barbara sits on this bench, she has one cheek in the USA and one in Canada!
