Because of the weather we actually never saw Mount McKinley while in Denali NP. By the way, Alaskans and Natives call the mountain Denali, meaning the tall one. Congress named it McKinley. It is the tallest mountain in North America, something over 20,000 feet. When we left Denali for Anchorage Jake told me on the radio to pull over there was a beautiful shot of Denali behind us. This is the shot we got from the highway. This is from about 30 plus miles away. Denali is the snow covered one in the background. Impressive to say the least!Because the mountain makes its own weather only about 20 percent of the people ever see it, I guess we are part of the chosen few!
